Cali Found Relieve
starting April 28th, 2021 Cali has been protesting hoping that the government cancels the tax reform bill, instead the government has sent the ESMAD(like US SWAT), police and law enforcement to attack the people. These attacked have turned into massacres and the lost of many civilians that were just fighting for a fair country.
We are currently experiencing one of the largest protests in recent years, the abusive government sent military and police to violate our constitutional right to protest. Today is the sixth day of protest and we continue demanding our rights.
We are now collecting funds to help those who are fighting day and night for the cause, and we need your help.
SUPPORT PROTESTORS IN CALI, COLOMBIA
Since April 28, 2021, Colombians have been in the streets participating in a historic national strike. The national strike aims to protest a tax reform that intends to raise taxes by 19% on basic consumer products such as public services (water, electricity, and gas), funeral services, electronic objects such as computers, and other items so far exempted. All of this in the middle of a COVID-19.
So far around 30 protestors have been murdered by either police or the Mobile Anti-Disturbances Squadron, most commonly known as Escuadrón Móvil Antidisturbios (ESMAD).
Hundreds of others have been injured and continue to be brutalized in the streets, which is why we are organizing from the United States, to direct funds to front and second line protestors.
We want the funds to go towards protective gear, first aid supplies, and food for community pots.
#SOSCOLOMBIA URGENT HELP FOR ACTIVISTS IN COLOMBIA
The Colombian people are mobilizing against one of the most corrupt governments in the world. From tax to public health reforms the national government has shown complete disregard for Colombians lives - meeting pacific protesters with brutal, lethal force.
In Temblores ONG we seek to encourage and mobilize community processes of social transformation, shaking the hegemonic structures that guarantee exclusion, violence, and systemic discrimination against communities historically marginalized by the state.
BLACK SOUTH AMERICAN LIVES MATTER
There's an urgent situation in Buenaventura, Colombia, where the majority Black population have called a strike to protest government neglect and state violence.
FUNDS FOR THE PEOPLE
For those who do not know us, we are a group of girls from Valle Del Cauca, who upon seeing the situation in Cali, decided to organize and mobilize on the front line. The magnitude of repression and state violence in Colombia has grown so much that we are also expanding.
As Colombian diaspora we unite in resistance and community aid to the just national strike.
While we wait for GoFundMe to process the funds into our account you can donate directly to one of the groups we are in contact with. They are medical students and professionals from the Universidad del Valle (Cali) and are attending to protestors on the ground. Their PayPal and other info is right there in the image.
The different organizations and civil societies of expressions of the Black or Afro communities, unite as an Anti-racist movement, to demand the elimination of structural racism that violates us in different ways; today we remember the words of our sister Angela Davis "I am not accepting the things that I cannot change, I am changing the things that I cannot accept."
